Death and Pazuzu join forces on this 2-song release by Finland's Spell Of Torment (now that's a bloody fine name for a metal band, if you ask me!). I've been a fan of Pazuzu since I saw the movie "The Exorcist" a long time ago, so his appearance always tickles my fancy.

'Infernal Death' (appeared on their second demo) is the main attraction here. Starting with acoustic guitar Mid-Eastern melody work backed by eerie synths, it soon turns into Scandinavian melodic black metal with lots of familiar bits. I mainly hear Thy Serpent and Dissection in it. The song is loaded with ominous, evil and aggressive palm-muted riffs. Then open-stringed chords bring in melody. The drumming changes between mid-paced double kicks to blastbeats. The song is always on the move and throws in new stuff here and there. The solo towards the end is very melodic, immediately shooting its hooks to a brain.

'Pazuzu' (only appears on this release, thus far) is mostly comprised of sharp and catchy tremolo riff-blades and double kicks bombing turning into faster blastbeating for the first two minutes. Then the song slows down and in comes more melody in shape of open-string guitars and, again, excellent guitar solo part. I smell some Christ Agony vibes in it, and I am not complaining.

Both songs are catchy. They do contain pretty much stuff, regarding their duration which are between 4-5 minutes. The CD edition, which is nicely packed in a digipak, and the black 7" vinyl both include lyrics and both limited to just 300 copies. Definitely a nice vignette from hell... I mean Finland's post-2010 melodic black metal.
