Lord Vicar

Lord Vicar sign with The Church Within Records

Lord Vicar's (FIN, SWE, UK) debut album, 'Fear no Pain', will be released by German doom metal label The Church Within Records. The recordings are on their way, and we are aiming to release this monster before Yuletide.

As the final nails were hammered into the coffin of Reverend Bizarre (1995 - 2007, R.I.P.), guitar player Peter Vicar started to follow his vision of a new True Doom Metal band. He felt forced to fulfill his need to compose and play this most arcane form of metal in the way it was meant to be, full of intensity, cruelty, heaviness, and force. Still firmly walking in the footsteps of Saint Vitus, Trouble, Witchfinder General and Pentagram, this new band brings together an international lineup of four devoted metalheads.

Those devoted metalheads are indeed no less than Chritus (Count Raven, Saint Vitus, Terra Firma) on vocals, Gareth Millsted (Centurions Ghost, End of Level Boss) on drums, Jim Hunter (Revelation, While Heaven Wept) on bass and Peter Inverted (Reverend Bizarre, Orne) on guitars. Sort of an 'all star' Doom Metal outfit if you want... Early 2008 saw their debut release, recorded in London, Stockholm, North Carolina and Turku respectively! 'The Demon of Freedom' was released on swedish I Hate Records and the concept is based on an old werewolf legend from the island of Hiiumaa, as narrated by Finnish author Aino Kallas (1878-1956) in her novel "Sudenmorsian" ("The Wolf’s Bride", 1928).

Even if some of the material has been written back in the Reverend Bizarre days, Lord Vicar comes with its own unique style of Doom of which we can expect a lot more in the future. The band is currently working (even if quite hard, considering the extreme distances between the members) on the follow up to their promising EP which will for sure be a full length LP, entitled 'Fear No Pain'...

The tracklist:
Down the Nails
Pillars under Water
Born of a Jackal
The Last of the Templars
The Spartan
A Man Called Horse
The Funeral Pyre
