Dissection (LTU) demos to be reissued
A new series, dedicated to Lithuanian heavy music history, has been launched by Ledo Takas. Historical and cultural background for metal scene in Lithuania was very ungrateful to creative people. It is hard to perceive, what equipment was used and what conditions the music was created in during Soviet and post Soviet times. You could just dream about recordings of minimal level.
Situation was worsened by the propaganda attitude towards long haired people & unstable economic situation. In spite of that, together with the fall of the iron curtain there was a massive explosion of metal in early nineties, with lots of angry extreme bands appearing literally in every place imaginable. Most of them have failed to record either the music, or their names in history. Others have been left somewhere in the subconscious, rubbed tapes, weather-stained photos, concert fragments and tales of elder friends.
However, time is unable to wipe out those, that have trenched their names deep and without scruples β into school table, wood, skin, vein, heart... They are not forgotten. Their influence is and will be felt for long years. Without them there would be nothing we have today. Time to recall history, time to sharpen the Roots.
Technical death metal band from Vilnius, DISSECTION, that existed between 1990 and 1993, is chosen as number one in the series, and not by chance. Once they were the triumvirate of Lithuanian death metal, together with Conscious Rot and Regredior. With two demo tapes these guys have left the competition, as well as the timeframe, far behind them.
DISSECTION songs were well received in local & foreign media and labels, they were close to sign a deal with Cenotaph Records, at the time home of Gorefest. Alas... that never happened, and the band was put to rest. Then.
Now, itβs time to blow off the dust and listen to the old tapes once again. 'Suffocating Syndrom' [1992] and 'Pyramid of Hate' [1993] recordings are reborn with a new sound quality, after Gints Lundbergs has squeezed everything what was possible out of them. The remaster has turned out shockingly brilliant β the sound now is of a quality to be proud of, even today.
So, the history comes to life in early 2009:
