Polish extreme metalers Behemoth have set 'Evangelion' as the title of their 9th full length studio album due out this summer. Evangelion marks the follow up to the bands extremely successful 2007 release 'The Apostasy'.
Behemoth are currently at Radio Gdansk in Poland recording the new album. 'Evangelion' see's Behemoth, Daniel Bergstrand and Woytek and Slawek Wieslawscy as producers with Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Napalm Death, Carcass) set to mix the album.
Here's what frontman Nergal has to say: “I've had this title in my head for almost a year now and it grew on me. It sounds nothing but powerful and epic which perfectly mirrors the essence of the new album. 'Evangelion' comes from a Greek word "spreading the word of God" or "spreading the good news"... Oh well, you already know that we love to play with the meanings and symbolism. We're here to show you our interpretation of what 'Evangelion' really is.”

On Monday 16th Behemoth entered Radio Gdansk studio in Poland to begin work on the follow-up to their highly acclaimed 2007’s 'The Apostasy'. Daniel Bergstrand from Dug Out (Meshuggah, In Flames, Dark Funeral) has joined the band in the studio to produce drums on that record. Check out the following report:
Commented Daniel Bergstrand: "The drums from beyond hell are miked up and ready to get whipped. I’m super happy with what we got so far...a lethal Polish bulldozer! I’m sure you guys will dig it! The drums is going to be tracked here in Radio Gdansk during next two weeks and after that I will start mixing them and get them ready for the final mix that will happen somewhere around May. We used 22 channels for the drums, it sounds very organic and natural and at the same time, VERY much in your face with a lot of attack. The room in this studio is amazing so the 2 ambience microphones that we've got are playing a big roll in the over all sound. Prepared to get blown away by the final result!!! Cheers!"
"Dani.el is awesome! He’s trying out unconventional techniques of miking up the drums. So far it works out that great. First of all he’s using big room for drums... It adds incredible ambiance! It sounds very natural and wide, yet there’s lots of attack and punch. Now I’m gonna beat the shit out of my drums... Wait and see! We’re taking no prisoners here!" Commented Behemoth’s drummer, Inferno.
Behemoth will interrupt studio work to play one exclusive show in Belgium at Maximum HXC Metalfest on March 7th.
