Rage: 'Strings to a Web'

Rage have just presented their new album to an international group of media people. The special event took place at the famous Nürburgring, where guitar player Victor Smolski had a motorrace same day, which he actually won. 'Strings to a Web' will be released on February, 5th 2010, recorded at the Twilight Hall Studio and produced by Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, Hammerfall and more). The cover artwork was done by Thomas Ewerhard (Avantasia, Therion and more), showing their soundchaser as a spider, caught in a web.

"I am really proud of the album, we hardly ever sounded more inspired and it is an absolute highlight in our career", says founding member, bass player and vocalist Peavy Wagner. Drummer André Hilgers is adding: This albums shows all the different faces and characters and I call it the most enormous and multifarious record I ever recorded." The album is indeed various and unique. It includes melodic and hymnic tracks such as 'Into the Light' and 'The Beggar's Last Dime', as well as powerfull Thrash attacks like 'Purified' or the final 'Tomorrow never Comes'. But the heart of the record is the 16 minutes lasting masterpiece 'Empty Hollow', a progressive fairytale that unites everything Rage is about. "You can compare 'Empty Hollow' with our 'Lingua Mortis Suite' from the 'Speak of the Dead' record. Theis song was recorded with an orchestra and is devided into five parts. As a band we have discovered a lot of new possibilities and elements, even in Peavy's vocals, my way of playing guitar or the arrangements in Andre's drumming", says Victor Smolski.

The album will be released on vinyl, jewelcase and a special limited digibook with great bonus material.

(older news about the topic:)

From August 20th on, Rage will record a new CD at the German Twilight Hall Studios in Grefrath where they also recorded the 'Unity' album. In a tried and tested way the man at the buttons will once again be Charlie Bauerfeind (Hammerfall, Helloween etc.) and a release date is planned for February 2010.

In the meantime, the band will be working intensely on the new songs which will continue the path of the last album 'Carved in Stone'. Among others, the album will contain progressive parts and an orchestrated song. Victor has already been to Minsk with the Lingua Mortis Orchestra to record the orchestral parts.
