Watain
Watain: 'Reaping Death' single
As previously announced, Watain's upcoming fourth monument is set to a June 7th release. Its title still remains to be unveiled. In the meantime, you can get your share of pure black metal via two versions of the 'Reaping Death' single, which is a song from the forthcoming album.
The 7" picture disc version features the new track and a rendering of the 'Chains of Death' classic by the both cursed and highly revered Death SS from Italy, along with some additional items. This 7" single will be strictly limited to only 1.300 copies.
The CD version of the single will be exclusively distributed with the April issue of Sweden Rock Magazine. It includes a cover of Bathory's 'The Return of Darkness and Evil' as a sign of Watain's return and in reference to Watain's Bathory tribute show that will be held on next June 11th at Sweden Rock Festival.
"The cover piece for 'Reaping Death' is based upon the myth of Cain, the firstborn murderer", vocalist E comments. "The illustration depicts triumphant Cain upon his slain "brother" Abel, undergoing the transformation from a slave of creation to a Lord of Uncreation. Behind him burns the fire of Lucifer, and his children dance around it in joyful ecstasy. With the murder of Abel, the gates of Death were opened for the first time, by an act of lawless will. The song 'Reaping Death' is a celebration of this act, a hymn to the hungry fire that dwell within the hearts of the bloodline of Cain."
The 7" is available for pre-order on Season of Mist's e-shop now. 100 copies of the 7" and 300 copies of the Sweden Rock issue are also available for pre-order through www.watainmerch.com but bear in mind that the shipping date for both the 7" and the magazine + CD will not be until April 30th, Walpurgisnacht.
"There the blood of Abel impregnates the soil
In which hungry darkness dwell and serpents coil
So that plants may rise to bear the strangest fruit.
For all of ye that hunger..."
