Darkside announce new line-up + new releases coming
Austria's longest active death metal band is currently concentrating on putting together the songlist for their upcoming 20 year anniversary album 'XX-Deca(y)ed – Throne of the Deathgod'.
Darkside's line-up is completing, featuring the exiting talents of Bernd Brodträger on guitars, a young guitar hero from Darkside's hometown Wiener Neustadt, who is involved in projects such as Bled Dry, Pereat and Vienna's melodic deathers Devanic, Janos Murri, extraordinary Italian guitar wizard from the ranks of Demolition and Priority and Andrea Rabuini on drums, formerly of Infernal Poetry and Ephel Duath. Vocals are being handled by Wolf.
The band is still looking for a bass player, so everyone who feels in grade to fill the vacant spot and has a passion for progressive death metal can leave his mark under info@darkside.co.at under the moniker of "deepdownmadness".
Darkside are currently working on their anniversary album which will feature songs from all Darkside albums to date as well as some cover songs and some surprises. Also a new song is planned to be released on 'XX-Deca(y)ed...' tentatively scheduled for early summer of 2011.
At the same time the band is already working on their next full-length album entiteled 'A-E-I-O-U', at this stage mainly involving Bernd and Wolf by making up the lyrical concept and the basics for the songs. By the way, European fans can check out Bernd's skills on the upcoming European headliner tour of Belphegor, where Bernd will appear in the line-up of Austria's black death heroes throughout October this year.
Another great announcement can be made regarding the artwork for 'XX-Deca(y)ed...'. No one less than Maitre Joachim Luetke, known for his work for Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Meshuggah, Kreator and countless more artists, will be taking care of the layout and artistic directory for Darkside's next oevre. To be mentioned that all songs will be newly recorded and re-arranged to fit the bands actual demands in style and craftmanship. Mastermind Wolf quotes:
"It is really amazing how this thing grew on me…after the non-happened reunion show I was fed up with everything until I got together with Bernd. He is an exiting guitar player, but even more focused on what we intend to do. Before we started the whole thing, he wanted me to give him all cds of Darkside so that he could really get a feel for what we did in the past 20 years. I was stunned ! Talking about Andreas' abilities would be carrying owls to Athens, everybody can check that on Youtube, haha. And finally Janos, he has become a partner in crime for the past years, joining us on the Moonspell tour in 2007 and of course as bandmate in Demolition since 2005. I'm really exited about this collabouration and looking forward to the recording of the album. We have chosen about 20 old songs plus some covers and hopefully a new song is gonna make it to the album, too. Also, the collabouration with Joachim is something very special to me, we have been friends for so many years now... To sum it up, this line-up was what made me decide to continue the Darkside story once more – let's see what the future has still in store for us."
