Mayfair
Mayfair: debut album 'Behind...' to be reissued
The Austrian band's 1993 album 'Behind...' was a real underground sensation.
After the much acclaimed 2-track-demo 'Find My Screams behind This Gate', their fans were hoping for new material from this eccentric combo. The six tracks from 'Behind...' remind you of the band's early phase, but they also show new facets.
'Behind...' is progressive and metallic (just listen to the drummer), but you will also sense a kind of gothic touch ('Madame Pest').
Mayfair is a band that sounds like no other band, you can't really pigeonhole them. But if you really want to compare them to other bands, you could maybe name Voivod and Warlord / Psychotic Waltz in their early phases (see review in Rock Hard No. 78).
At the end of 2012, 'Behind...' was completely remastered and will be re-released by Pure Prog Records. Bonus is a second CD which contains the tracks from the demo 'Find My Screams behind This Gate' and eight further previously unreleased demo-tracks. The CDs will be released in a limited double digipak.

The journey begins again...
