Arkan to release 3rd album 'Sofia' in May

French / North African act Arkan are back with their third album. The follow-up to 2011's 'Salam' is entitled 'Sofia' and has been scheduled for a May 23rd release (May 27th in North America), via Season Of Mist as a digipak CD.

The band issued a statement commenting on the new album's title:

"The album deals with a personal ordeal one of the members of Arkan had to go through", vocalist Sarah says. "From my point of view, 'Sofia' has multiple meanings. From pain to revolution, the struggles end with the quietness of a heartbeat and 'Sofia' slides from sadness to peace. While 'Salam' was an open-minded concept-album, 'Sofia' deals more with the sad side of our histories."
