Hideous Divinity
Hideous Divinity attack with 2nd album 'Cobra Verde' this Fall
Italian death metal merchants, Hideous Divinity, who feature within their ranks current and former members of Hour Of Penance and Ghouls, are preparing to unleash their second full-length this Fall via Unique Leader Records.
Titled 'Cobra Verde', the offering was recorded at 16th Cellar Studios (House Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Trifixion, Vomit The Soul et al) in early 2014 and, in keeping with the tradition laid by their monster debut, 'Obeisance Rising', revolves itself around a movie concept.
Comments the band, "'Cobra Verde' is no ordinary album. We entered Stefano "Saul" Morabito's 16th Cellar Studios for the second time, knowing we could get the best only going to the best. We pushed Saul and he did the same with us: we struggled, argued, started from scratch numerous times. The result was hard to reach but in the end no one could say anything but, "THIS is it." Drums and vocals were entirely performed and recorded in the studio, while guitars were pre-recorded and reamped by Saul using a combination of Peavey Triple XXX and Mesa Dual Rectifier. Bass was also pre-recorded and re-amped. Prepare for the slavery of the human heart."
Track listing:
1. In My Land I Was a Snake
2. The Somber Empire
3. Cobra Verde
4. Salt in Martyr's Tear
5. Sinister and Demented
6. Desolation Within
7. Alonest of the Alone
8. Adjinakou
9. The Last and only Son (Ripping Corpse cover)
Born between Italy and Norway in late 2006 as a project of Hour Of Penance founding member Enrico Schettino, Hideous Divinity immediately gains attention in the underground thanks to the 'Sinful Star Necrolatry' 2-track demo, an intriguing mixture of European and American extremities released at the end of 2007. After a long hiatus the band finally finds a stable lineup, just in time to be invited by Sweden's DM masters Insision in Scandinavia for 2 festivals in late 2010. In the meantime, new songs are ready: European death/black influences give way to a more mindful, complex yet straight-in-your-face death metal assault in the vein of Nile, Immolation and Hate. After another successful appearance in Scandinavia, this time for the prestigious Inferno Festival in Oslo (Norway) sharing the bill with blockbuster acts such as Meshuggah, Immortal, Forbidden, Malevolent Creation and Napalm Death, the band enters the renowned 16th Cellar Studios in July 2011 to start with the recording sessions of 'Obeisance Rising', debut album to be released via Unique Leader. Featuring Stefano "Saul" Morabito behind the production and Marchello Baltadjiev for the cover artwork, these 11 tracks and 46 minutes are what can be simply summarized as relentless death metal at its finest. The lyrical concept is based on John Carpenter's immortal masterstroke "They Live", once bitter allegory of the Reagan era, today an even more relevant paradigm of the decline of human race. After signing the deal with Unique Leader, Hideous Divinity commented with these enthusiastic words: "Now it's official, and we can say it: we're extremely happy to be part of the world’s most renowned death metal roster. Being chosen by Unique Leader after only 2 short promos is also a huge reason for pride. We are working very hard to bring you the most crushing and epic death metal assault human ears can experience. Fans of Nile, Immolation and crushing death metal worldwide, Hideous Divinity is on its way!"
