Crippler announce new drummer

Finnish death metallers Crippler have a new drummer.

Here is the message from the band:

"I'm sorry to announce that our founder member and drummer Jori Sara-aho leaves the band. No hard feelings at all. Jori will stay our dear friend forever. I think Crippler would definately not be what it is now without him. We all wish him the very best with other bands! We will soon announce info about drummer situation in Crippler."

Here is Jori's letter:

"Unfortunately the time has come for me to leave Crippler. I started this band with Pekka to bring a breath of fresh air to the Finnish death metal scene, which although strong and vital, didn't offer exactly what I craved: metal rooted in the raw basis of 90's US-death but topped with ambition in both music and lyrics. We started almost from zero, having to train our asses off to be able to play this kind of death metal. I love the two demos we made, and I think they're some of the best music I've made with any band I've played with.

Sadly, for Crippler to get properly on the road, they need someone with more time on his hands. My other bands, Speedtrap (vocals) and Death toll 80k (drums), are already demanding a lot from me. After all the hard work it makes me sad to leave, but I want Crippler to move forward and right now the only way it can happen is without me holding everyone else back.

I wish all the best for the rest of Crippler!

The band's new drummer is Timo Häkkinen, known from such bands as Sotajumala, Kataplexia, Serocs etc.

"I fell in love with Crippler before I even heard a single riff. Pekka told me about his new band, listing influences, and it made me slightly jealous. I had been trying to find motivated people to start a new band with, and this one seemed almost perfect, but Pekka already had a drummer. I bought the first demo when it came out and loved it. I bought the second demo when it came out and loved it even more.

When I was asked to fill in for few shows, I felt bad for having to decline. I had my hands full with my own bands. There was no way I could dedicate the amount of time required just to play few shows as a session drummer, I reasoned. And spotting the loophole in my argument, Pekka asked me to join the band as a full-time drummer - with Jori's approval and his decision to step down. How could I say no?

I am honored to join a band where everybody is on the same page. We share the same passion and motivation for playing crushingly heavy and fierce death metal. I cannot wait to record and start playing shows, because in this band there is absolutely no compromise. It's all or nothing.
