Oddland: 2nd album 'Origin' coming in September

Sensory Records has confirmed the street date and other official release info for 'Origin', the intense label debut album by Finnish progressive metal legion, Oddland, issuing a brief audio/visual trailer on the record.

Oddland's second album, 'Origin' was partly recorded by the band, the rest captured at Fantom Studio (Insomnium, Korpiklaani, Oranssi Pazuzu) after which it was mixed and mastered by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir). Containing over forty-five minutes of music, the album bears a theme which ties deeply into the lyrics and extensive artwork, with a separate piece of art created by Egyptian artist Mohammed Essam for each of the nine songs.

"We didn't really know what was in store when we started writing songs for 'Origin'," issues the band. "Creating this album took us way longer than we first imagined. We had an initial vision of what we wanted 'Origin' to be, but it really took time to get there. Every song went through an endless set of revisions before they were finished. We feel have expanded and evolved Oddland's sound with 'Origin': it is low and it is heavy, but the rhythms and melodies are still what carry the songs. Lyrically the album is tied together by the idea that the lyrics represent our origin: what has made us what we are – individually and collectively. Mohammad really contributed into making the ideas and atmospheres of the songs come to life visually. We can't wait for people to experience the album."

Laser's Edge subdivision Sensory Records will release 'Origin' worldwide on September 9th.

Finnish progressive metal band Oddland have inked a record deal with Sensory Records (a division of Laser's Edge, New Jersey, USA). The band commented on the signing: "We are very excited to be working with them on the release, and proud to be part of their fine roster."

Laser's Edge head Ken Golden states of the signing: "About four years ago I was taken by surprise by this Finnish band that came out of left field. Oddland's debut knocked me on my ass – the epitome of thinking man's metal. When the band reached out to us about joining our roster I didn't hesitate a second. Oddland creates provocative metal with soul. It's an honor to have them on board."

The band's second full-length album, titled 'Origin', will be out worldwide next summer. It was mixed and mastered by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Devin Townsend/SYL etc. etc.) at Dugout Productions, Sweden.

The album duration is approximately 45 minutes, and the track listing is as follows:
