Cancer announce new line-up

Legendary English death metal band Cancer have gone through line-up changes.

Forming member John Walker (guitars, vocals) weighed in:
"We're so very pleased to finally announce the new lineup after the departure of Carl [stokes; drums] and Ian [Buchanan; guitar], the legends who've paved the way for our new members."

Multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Valcázar Berdofe has been active in the Spanish music scene for the past 12 years. He plays many different genres ranging from jazz to extreme metal on drums, bass and keyboards in several bands from his hometown of Logroño; such as Ernia Spanish OSDM legends Aposento as well as many others throughout the years: Ethos, Black Desert, Tempo Phobia, 6teps, Invisible Symmetry and more. He's also been drumming for sci-fi tech death metal titans Wormed for four years and counting.

Gabriel commented:
"I'm really excited to be a part of one of the pioneers of British death metal, Cancer! It'll be fun to revisit classics from 'To the Gory End' and 'Death Shall Rise' on stage, providing the catchy yet pummeling beats that make up the backbone of the songs along with John's signature riffs. I also can't wait to see what the future holds for Cancer's music, and what tunes we can craft together along with my good pal Dani Maganto on bass. Catch you all real soon! CFC!!"

Daniel Maganto has been an active member of the Spanish metal community for several years with Eternal Storm and a member of Liquid Graveyard since 2016. In addition to that, he has played guitar or bass for many other bands like Sacthu, Mourning Sun (Chile), Teething, Under Vultures or The Ytriple Corporation, as a full-time member or a session musician, as well as worked as tour manager for several acts like Wormed, Altarage or Thirteen Bled Promises.

Daniel said:
"I was only fourteen the first time I heard Cancer's classics 'Death Shall Rise' and 'To the Gory End' and the powerful combination of John's neck breaking riffs and catchy grooves immediately caught my attention. I was just a lonely teenager obsessed with death metal, so it only took me a few seconds to become a fan and it's been amazing to hear the evolution of their sound and their exciting comeback record 'Shadow Gripped'. Fifteen years later, I'm chuffed and honoured to have the opportunity to be part of the history of one of Britain's extreme metal pioneers by playing these great songs and working on the new material with John and Gabriel. I look forward to banging my head in front of all of you soon. CFC."
