Evil Bards

History

The Evil Bards project starts in February 1998. During over 10 years of activity some changes in the line-up take place, as it often happens, so that only one of the original band members (Rig, drums) is still present in the Italian combo. As time goes by with the above mentioned line-up changes, their music is bound to grow, develop, progress and change: from an initial thrash/death oriented sound it grows into a melodic death metal rich in Scandinavian inspired motifs, but heavy are the influences of gothic and old doom metal style. The lyrics (all written by drummer Rig) range from introspective personal thoughts to the romantic tales of the XIX century, to northern sagas.

From December 1999 to May 2000 the band recorded its first full length, called 'Prelude to Sadness' which had good reviews worldwide. Between July and August 2003 Evil Bards record their 2nd full length, 'Through the Mask of Solitude'. The record featured Thunder from Thunder Storm on vocals in the hit-single 'Black Clouds'. In December 2003 'Through the Mask of Solitude' is released. In march 2004 the promotion started with good reviews worldwide.

During 2005-2006 the band worked with different session-men and in march "the bards" come back finally on stage! In 2008 Evil Bards had to take a pause for Rig's health problems. At now the band is working on new stuff. A new record is scheduled for early 2009, maybe with some line-up changes.

LIVE EXPERIENCES

During these 10 years of activity the band had the chance to play several live gigs and take part to some important festivals and live shows, winning prizes and first places in music contests. May-June-July 1998: "Total Evil Tour". Their most meaningful experience is probably the show they played as opening act for the First Charity Grand Prix in Monza where they performed in front of a crowd of 6500 people who welcomed them "heartly" (1999). Since January 2001 Evil Bards started to play again into pubs and local clubs. June-July-September 2001: "Prelude Tour 2001". October 2001: Rig have to take a pause with the live shows and start the "new" Evil Bards project as "studio project". Finally in march and april 2005 the band come back on stage. In November is the opening act for Necrodeath. In March 2006 Evil Bards were in the bill of Hellblast Festival and opening act 4 Raising Fear . Two more gigs in june and july 2006. On july 2006,the 23th the band played at Metal Camp in Slovenia.
