Tetsuo
History
Originally formed in 1999 under the name Issue One by current members Travis Weinand (vocals) and Jason Herrmann (guitar), Tetsuo didn't really begin to make a name in the local hardcore scene until 2002 when they kicked out their old drummer, ditched all of their old material, and began writing the music they truly wanted. With their new drummer, Jason Strapec, they started writing all new songs that were much heavier and much more technical and began playing shows in and around Scranton/Jessup, Pennsylvania. In the next six months they self released a three song EP, lost a guitarist and continued to play local shows.
In late 2002 the group decided that they need a new name to better suit their ever-changing style and eventually decided on Tetsuo, which was taken from a Japanese movie of the same name as well as the Japanese Anime "Akira". In early 2003 they recorded another EP entitled 'Negativo.Perfecta.Complador', released it, and began playing shows in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Soon after this they lost their bassist of three years, but instead of finding a replacement, vocalist Travis decided to take on double-duty as the singer and bass player. Now a power-trio, Tetsuo could free themselves of all musical shackles and really begin to push themselves in even more different directions.
This brings us to the current line-up of Travis Weinand on bass and vocals, Jason Herrmann on guitar, and Jason Strapec on drums. In early 2004 the band recorded their newest five song EP entitled 'Malmohrahkign' and were signed to Whorth Records. With two band members currently going to college to study music, Tetsuo will continue to evolve and make technical, intelligent, and brutal music that any fan of extreme music can enjoy.
