History
Ikinae was formed in early 2004 on the remains of Entrophia. Tommi Niemi, Janne Ruohoniemi and Tomi Tupiini were the original members. Very quickly Lars Kujala of Nuance Gate was appointed drummer and Ville Berg of Fadeout bassist. No trainings were ever held, though, with this line-up. But Ilkka Kivimäki was soon found to be the drummer and Juni Luoma, also a former Entrophia member, to play the bass. By the end of 2004, this line-up recorded the first demo; 'Lucky Seven'.
2005 began with loads of problems. Tomi Tupiini went to serve his military duties, after which he became active with his solo-project Into My Houses and the metal band Goathemy, hence Ilkka Kivimäki began playing guitars for Ikinae. Ossi Mäki-Reini of, yes yes once again, Fadeout became the drummer. This line-up then lasted a few months, until Janne Ruohoniemi decided to call it quits. Him leaving was somehow expected, as he too spent a lot of time with Goathemy. This, however, meant that Tommi Niemi became the sole founding member in the band. But soon after this episode, Joonatan Alatalo was found to play the other guitar. This line-up then managed to record Ikinae's second demo, the EP called 'Second Symptom' in mid 2005.
If you thought that problems ended there, guess again. It didn't take long after the release of 'Second Symptom', when Juni Luoma took his turn to quit. He's been constantly reviving Entrophia ever since his departure. Tiitus Lehtinen then joined Ikinae. It was agreed that he would take over the guitars and Ilkka Kivimäki took his third role on the band; this time the bass. And finally, this line-up was able to record the third demo of Ikinae; 'Alfons & Co.', which was then released December 31st, 2005.
After this glorious event, problems arose. The dreadded two-year period began, when each band member on their turn had to complete military service. During this time, Ilkka became a member of Fadeout and Joonatan became the guitar player of a Sentenced cover band, Forever One. Ossi became more active with his other project, Miriam, and finally, when Tommi Niemi joined Nome, it was obvious that a long break was ahead.
2007 October. After the break of over a year, Tommi Niemi received the boot from Misery Inc. and decided to revive Ikinae. In two days the line-up was completed with only one change; the drummer/guitarist/bassist Ilkka was still busy with Fadeout, and therefore replaced by Jouni Alho, the bass player of Nome. It was time to start working on new material!
