Element
History
In 2003 Chris Lozano and Mason Gregory started a death metal band that was technically proficient, fast and brutal. In a month they had written two very complex songs. They also rewrote and rearranged two other songs from a previous project. Having no drummer, they programmed the drums out for the tunes. The drumming had to be as equally intense as the guitar pieces.
During the writing process they approached Joe Byrnes to play bass in the band. In 2004 Joe joined the project (then called Aeons Past) and started writing lyrics. Mason has a big influence from science-fiction movies and wanted to create a lyrical atmosphere to match the outerworldly songs they were composing, discussed these ideas and concepts with Joe.
After a name change, the self-titled demo was finished in 2004 and was shopped around to underground labels. In early 2005 an offer from Brutal Bands led to the signing of a two album recording contract. Element finished writing songs during the summer of 2005. Recording began in October at Legion Studios with Matt Sotelo. KC Howard performed drums on the album. Problems with a vocalist set the album back four months. Chris and Mason stepped up to perform vocal duties.
Now that the album has finally been mixed and mastered. In 2007, 'Aeons Past' is finally available.
