Nightshade

History

Justice, Illinois – home of Resurrection Cemetery, Resurrection Mary and Chicago’s newest Horror Music project: Nightshade. Nightshade is the latest creation of Usurper guitarist/vocalist/songwriter, Rick Scythe. Mr. Scythe began working on ideas for a horror music project all the way back in 1999, but never really pursued things seriously until Usurper took a hiatus in the summer of 2007.

Musically Nightshade is a combination of horror punk, dark heavy rock and horror movie-type atmospheric sounds - all executed by a metal guitarist... (along with a little help from his left-hand-man, the abominable: 'Mr. Faust'). The blend of the abrasive, metal guitars, with punk rock arrangements and melodic haunting undertones is enhanced by atmosphere created by real background instruments, vocals and samples, Not synths! Lyrically the inspiration comes from paranormal events, cryptozoological creatures, monster folklore and other tales of terror.

On Halloween 2007 Nightshade will release the first demo entitled, 'Majick Potion' which currently is being recorded at Boss Studio's (throughout August 2007), with producer Chuck LoPresti. The 'Majick Potion' CD will be available online - available through MySpace and other internet outlets, as well as a very limited CD version for sale - all in order to spread the music and allow humans to hear what Nightshade is all about. Depending on the response and interest in Nightshade at that point, Rick and Mr. Faust might then search for additional members for future recordings and live shows.
