History
Rebaelliun was formed in 1998, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), with members of the former Blessed (1992-1996). Mounted with the intention of working intensively in the underground world, the Rebaelliun was founded with Marcello Marzari (vocals/bass), Fabiano Penna (guitarist) and Ronaldo Lima (guitarist) and Sandro Moreira (drummer), and, after six months on the road, he launched the first work: the 2-song 'Promo Tape '98', independently.
The band continued playing live shows, and soon the first European tour happened. The band went without any concert scheduled, due to difficulties regarding international contacts. Through word of mouth, however, they managed to schedule show after show, totaling 20 concerts over the three months they stayed there.
After European tour, Rebaelliun returned to Brazil with two goals accomplished: the tour and a closed contract with the Dutch label Hammerheart Records. The debut full-length album 'Burn the Promised Land' came out in November 1999.
Unveiling The Wicked (a Hammerheart Records' subsidiary) released the promo tape as 'At War' in 1999.
It was followed by 'Bringer of War' EP in May 2000, also via Hammerheart Records.
In 2000, Marcelo Marzari (bassist/vocalist) leaves the formation, and Lohy Silveira joined the band. With this change, Rebaelliun released one more album, 'Annihilation', in September 2001.
They split up in 2002.
Fortunately, during the period of inactivity, care was taken to preserve the name of the band, thus being able to come back, and with support from many fans. In 2015, then, they announced their return, and in May 2016 come back with the third album, 'The Hell's Decrees'. Again released by Hammerheart Records, it features cover art made by Marcelo Vasco, very known for his work done for bands like Slayer, Kreator and Soulfly. There were several shows played, promoting the album, and participating in the renowned festivals of European summer, Party San, in Germany, and Brutal Assault, in Czech republic.
In 2018, however, they lost their guitarist Fabiano Penna, right after a successful tour in Europe. His cause of death was a lethal infection caused by an unknown bacteria.
In Fabiano's place entered Evandro Passos, and after a few months of preparation, the band returned to the stage. Older members felt strangeness of doing a show without Fabiano Penna, but moved on because there was a lot to do and certainly that was Penna's wish. The band released the song 'The Messiah' with a music video shot for it, too.
On 02/13/2020, just before the start of the pandemic of Covid-19, the city of Porto Alegre was the stage for Noisy Bazaar, which took place at the classic Bar Ocidental, an event unmissable for death metal fans: Rebaelliun performed a special show with former members Marcello Marzari and Ronaldo Lima, which was recorded the show for future video recording.
In the first half of 2020, Rebaelliun released some videos recorded live in a studio in their hometown. Right after announcing the change of label (they joined forces with Polish label Agonia Records) they released a lyric video the new single titled 'Vile'.
Lohy Silveira passed away in June 2022, suffering a cardiac arrest. Bruno Añaña (M26, Postmortem Inc) took the post in same year. The fourth full-length album, 'Under the Sign of Rebellion', was released on September 22nd, 2023, via Agonia Records (as a CD, 3 limited edition vinyls & cassette).
