Havok

History

The quintet Havok, founded in March 2004 in Blaubeuren near Ulm (southern Germany), offers diversified death metal. The band is influenced by old school stuff like Six Feet Under and Swedish metal like In Flames, but also by modern thrash like The Haunted. Havok serve the listener an aggressive mix of all these genres. Their music consists of fast blast beats and double bass parts next to melodic lead guitar lines and heavy, neck-breaking riffs. Shouter Thomas Kneer places his vocals on top of this groundwork: he presents his lyrics by grunting, shouting and screaming throughout the songs. The lyrics deal with everyone’s struggle in everyday life and with sociocritical subjects, whereas they also convey positive matters to the audience.

Havok have already been a support act for Fleshcrawl, Dismember, Final Breath, Disbelief, Lay Down Rotten, Deranged, Nocte Obducta, Inhume and many more. The bands live skills also helped them come in second of approx. thirty at a local band contest called "Szene Star" in 2005. Additionally, Havok are proud having played two larger regional festivals: Zabbaduschder Open Air 2007 and Bringer Of Death Fest 2008.

The band's debut release was a 3-song demo 'Unleashed' in 2004. Some time later, in November 2006, it was time for a 7-song, self-titled EP, which was self-released too.

The band released their first album titled 'Rebuilding Sodom' on Heavy Horses Records in December 2008.
