Darkmoon
History
Darkmoon was formed in 1997. The band's musical purpose was to create deep atmosphere. While wandering on the edge between melody and speed they tried to awake deep and dark emotions without loosing the hard and raging characteristics of metal. Darkmoon's usic was a mixture of black and death metal with a bit of gothic and thrash influences, that's why they saw themselves rather as a dark metal band than a band belonging to a specific metal genre. The lyrics described dark emotions such as longing for death, despair and hate. They also tell about themes like religious indoctrination and criticize some forms of institutionalized power. Some lyrics are just fiction.
Following the publication of three demo CD's ('Grief' in 1998, 'Remains' in 2000 and 'Black Domain' in 2003) they signed a contract with the Austrian label CCP Records and released in 2005 the debut album 'Of Bitterness and Hate' and two years later the album 'Apocalyptic Syndrome'. Both albums were produced at the Little Creek Studio in Gelterkinden by V.O. Pulver and Frank Winkelmann. Both publications received very positive reactions in the international print and online medias and allowed Darkmoon to play gigs in Switzerland and Germany with local supports, as well as with "bigger" bands like Agathodaimon, Dark Age, Ektomorph, Requiem, Disbelief... Festivals they attendeded were "Walpurgis Metal Days" in Bavaria, "Baden in Blut" and "Metal Days", the biggest metal festival in Switzerland.
The third album 'Wounds' was once again produced by V.O. Pulver at Little Creek Studio. 'Wounds' presented a matured band, with more complexity and power, ready to leave large imprints in the metal landscape. It was released in August 2011, via STF Records.
The fourth full-length album, 'Decline' was recorded in Austin, Texas, USA, by producer Christoph Brandes. It came out in May 2015, via Non Stop Music Records.
In December 2017 the band called it a day.
