History
It was the city of Raahe and the grim surroundings of Kummatti in northern Finland that gave birth to the most extreme, violent, pitchblack form of music that is now known as Mystic Grave. It all came together by the end of the year 2006. Three individuals that shared a musical vision that was all about being pure and true. The idea was to combine the grooves of old school death metal with the depth of doom and the filth and sickness of sludge. A raw uncompromised sound from our minds to yours.
At the end of the year 2006 A.P.Pagan and Ron Tomb managed to give unbirth to one song that caught the interest of the almighty Gibletface. The song had a deep groove, a taste of disharmonic riffing and a sick depth that is rarely caught on tape.
Merging Gibletface to the band was a painless task because all three members were old pals and had been playing together in other projects. Soon this three-piece started writing and rehearsing new songs. Classics like 'Swamp Terror pt.1' and 'Hideous Deeds' slowly but surely started to take their form.
As soon as the first five songs were written Mystic Grave headed to RAAKK studios in Raahe. The songs were recorded in two sessions: three nights in March and a couple in June of 2007. The 'Doom, Death, Darkness' EP was mastered at BRR studios in Raahe, August 2007.
In 2009 the band recorded their second release, 'Mysticgram' demo, in the same studio as their debut. Gibletface took over the vocal duties and A.P. Pagan continued the exorcism with a bass. 'Mystigram' came out in May 2009.
