History
Profane Omen hails from Lahti -area, Finland. The band was founded back in winter of 1999 and since that its line-up has been changing dramatically. The band was originally founded by Janne Tolonen (gtr.) and Länä Varjola (drums) along with Jukka Keisala (bass) and Bönde Pöllänen (lead gtr.). Surprisingly none of these founding members play in P.O. anymore. Only the vocalist, Jules Näveri, who joined the band soon after its beginning still sings in the band.
The big break up happened in 2001 when one guy decided to leave which was the start of a chain reaction when everybody left except Näveri and Keisala and Williami Kurki who joined the band earlier to replace Pöllänen. At this far, P.O. had made four demos. A big hunt for decent players begun. Antti Kokkonen (gtr.) and Mika Tanttu (drums) from Drowned In Life offered their services to the struggling band and as a continuance they joined the band. With this line-up P.O. made one mini-EP and one demo. Soon after the latest demo, Keisala decided to leave the band but the replacement wasn't too far away: Tomppa Saarenketo, who was recording/engineering/producing the latest demo with P.O. stood up and took his place in the bass. This was the spring of 2003.
A lot of things have happened along the road but still Profane Omen is kicking harder and harder. The band have made nearly 100 gigs which is a lot to an unsigned band, also one four-gig tour has been made in Austria. The line-up today is the dream line-up and hopefully it will last. The latest offering, single titled 'Adrenaline' and video for it was released in 2004.
Profane Omen plays metal combined with different kinds of varieties. It's not easy to be categorized and why should it. It smells like shotgun powder and some substances at the same time. It's all about making metal without restrictions, without boundaries.
