Khors
History
Khors began their career in August 2004 as a trio of skilled musicians already known within the Ukrainian heathen black metal scene. Khors left Astrofaes and invited invited Khaoth (ex-Hate Forest, ex-Astrofaes, Tessaract) as drummer. In Autumn of the same year Helg (Runes Of Dianceht) invited to the band as guitarist/vocalist and recording of debut album started in the end of the year in Audio Alchemia Studio.
Inspired by the spiritual ancient world of the elder ancestors, the band recorded their debut album 'The Flame of Eternity's Decline' in 2005. There were musicians from Nokturnal Mortum and Finist who helped with the record namely Saturious, the keyboardist and Wortherax, lead guitarist accordingly. The album was mixed and mastered by Michael "Maiden" Smirnov in Buddha Cat Studio, Moscow, Russia. It was released by Oriana Music in April 2005. In Autumn of the same year the band's line-up was reinforced by guitar player Nort (Nagual) and Khors started to play live shows.
Recordings for the second album entitled 'Cold' was started in February 2006 in M-Art Studio and Audio Alchemia Studio. Saturious and Wortherax helped with the record again and mastering and mixing was done by Michael "Maiden" Smirnov as it was with the first record. The album had a more mid-tempo approach, in general having shifted the emphasis to melody and the atmospherics of keyboards and leads. On this second album the band departed from many of the stereotypes of black metal. 'Cold' released by Oriana Music in December 2006.
In the late Autumn of 2007 the band entered Blacklight Studio for recording the third album. The recording lasted till Summer 2008. Further musical evolution saw the release of their third album, 'Mysticism' – the most progressive record in the band's discography so far, offering a cloak of atmosphere and moods to the listener, incorporating elements of dark metal. 'Cold' album was released by Heidenwut Productions (UK) together with Ancient Nation Production (Ukraine) on LP and Eclectic Productions released DVD 'Cold Ways' which contains video bootleg filmed during band's concert activity. In the end of 2008 'Mysticism' was released on digipak CD by Paragon Records (USA). After that the band began to receive increasing resonance in the world of underground metal.
In 2009 'Mysticism' album was licensed by Irond Records (Russia) especially for CIS territories. In the middle of 2009 the band got line-up changed. Nort, guitar player was replaced by Warth who played with Faces Of Death band before.
The recording of fourth full-length album was started in the beginning of 2010 in Blacklight Studio and finished in June. 'Return to Abandoned', released in 2010 Paragon Records and especially licensed for CIS territories by Irond Records, garnered further support from metal fans worldwide. Continuing the creative and ideological concept of the previous album, 'Return to Abandoned' also absorbed the spirit of the earlier records as the band gained strength, spirit and wisdom from the years that had passed. The sound had become more complex, full of aggression and atmosphere.
In Summer of 2010 Helg was compelled to leave the band due to his family circumstances and was replaced by Jurgis (ex-Gurgabs, Faces Of Death) .
In Spring of 2011 a bootleg DVD was released entitled 'Winter Stronghold' by Eclectic Producions. In Summer the same year the guitarist Warth suddenly left the band and the same time Helg, the original guitar player and singer is back. In September the band entered Blacklight Studio to record 5th full length album. In October the same year 'Return to Abandoned' was released by Osmose Productions in exclusive double LP format.
Khors' fifth full length album, is a real revelation and definitely another milestone in the band's creativity. The recording of 'Wisdom of Centuries' was finished at the beginning of 2012, and the band had signed a contract with Candlelight Records (Great Britain). The dense sound of the album is harmoniously complemented with the addition of ethnic instruments, shrouded with a bewitching atmosphere of shamanic mysticism. This album is also the first in the band's history performed in their native language.
In 2013 Khors signed a contract with Svarga Music giving the label their exclusive rights for re-releasing the band's first four albums. In November 2015 the debut album 'The Flame of Eternity's Decline' will be released on digipak CD.
Khors declares itself as a non-political band.Khors is a Slavic god of the sun and light.
