Ancient Ascendant

History

Ancient Ascendant are a new breed of death metal band, combining old school sensibilities with melody and hooks which are often lacking in this brutal genre. They formed in 2005 and in Reading, South England with a goal to create interesting, clear and progressive death metal to headbang to!

Taking influences from older metal bands such as Death, Carcass and Pantera and fusing them with the modern sounds of bands like Opeth and Decapitated, Ancient Ascendant aim to achieve something which appeals to all kinds of metal fanatic.

For the last five years the band have been honing their sound through constant gigging across the country and producing 'The Heathen Throne EP' in 2008. It was preceded by a 1-track promo CD 'The Path to Heaven'; both met with extremely positive feedback from critics and the band's growing fan base.

In January 2010 the band signed with Union Black Records and the debut album.
