History
Web Of Wyrd is a theatrical metal act that is equal parts musical, lyrical and visual. A flint sharp foundation of frantic guitars in a mighty orchestral atmosphere, complete with melodic folk music entities and poetic intrigues.
Though rooted in the late eighties thrash scene, many a diverse influence sprout through this Swedish twosome of guitar player Anders Gustafsson and lyricist Morgan Sundell.
Conceptually, as its namesake, Web Of Wyrd is just as entangled to unwind. Derived from early medieval paganism, where the wyrd lore describes an omnipotent, ethereal web formed by counterpoints, connecting everything at all times. Thereby making it possible to experience and affect events far away in time and place. Thus the name lends itself perfectly to the ambitions and intentions of its borrower.
Tracing back to the early nineties, frustrated over the break-up of his former band, Morgan began writing material in solitude to satisfy his own creative desire. Ever exchanging ideas with colleague Anders, it would not be until 1996 that their collaborations and visions came into focus.
Understandably not a live band considering its scarse line-up (though the intention ever was and still is to be one) WEB OF WYRD is today solely studio based. And to be honest, most songs still need to be properly recorded.
With all other aspects of life as constant hurdles, the progress of things proceeds ever so slowly. And this growing hoard of 'sound, sight, and sentence 'would mayhap have existed forever in Limbo, oblivious to mankind,if not for the realization that it was much too valuable to vanish unheard of.
The first audio evidence, a song 'Hidden Well Well Hidden', was released on 'Atomic Annihilation' compilation from Dark Forest Productions in August 2003. In October of the same year, 'A Seedy Sowing for a Tinsel Harvest?', 6-song self-released demo was released.
After many trials and tribulations which took Web Of Wyrd out of commison for some while, the project was resurrected in 2007 to record a new demo entitled 'By an Image Graven an Offering Burnt' completed in December 2007.
