History
Formed out of the ashes of various bands on the Nottingham (England) scene in the last 6 years, Widows started writing in the summer of 2008 as James (guitar) and Adam (vocals) were trying to figure out a new direction after their last band had split. Steve (drums) and Evan (bass) joined the ranks across next few months and they began gigging in mid 2009 with a debut EP recorded shortly afterward, and released in January 2010.
The 'Raise the Monolith' EP; a limited run of 500 copies was initially self released but quickly snapped up by local label Bad News Records and since joining forces with "desert scene" Widows have had a string of appearances with names like Nebula, Truckfighters, Atomic Bitch Wax, and Gentleman's Pistols.
In June 2011 the band recorded their debut album 'Death Valley Duchess'. Ste Birch played some bass for the album, but decided to leave the band. His replacement was R.J. Chisholm, wo also got to play some songs for the album. The album was release via Bad News Records in April 2012.(source: Widows, June 2011, the last chapter by AM)
