Inhuman

History

Gothic metal band Inhuman formed in December 1992 in Silves, a town in the south of Portugal, in the Algarve region.

The first year of existence was spent in the rehearsal room writing songs for the first live appearance, which would happen in October 1993 in their hometown. From that time onwards and responding to the excellent reactions of the public, live concerts started on.

In 1995 the band recorded the 'Pure Redemption' demo at Rec'n'Roll Studio in Valadares, in the northern region of the country. In charge of the production was Luís Barros and the band. That same year, reviewers began to recognize the potential and quality of Inhuman's music all over the country and abroad, culminating in the election of 'Pure Redemption' as the best demo released in 1995 by the national media.
As a result of the excellent reviews, several record labels showed interest in releasing the demo 'Pure Redemption', having the band signed a contract with Portuguese independent Art Music.

The first album, entitled 'Strange Desire', was recorded in December of 1995, again in Rec'n'Roll with the production of Luis Barros. The release took place in May 1996 and the critics have once again praised this first album, deserving, all over Europe, highlights on various radio programs and articles in specialized magazines. The concerts came out in greater numbers and the band gained followers all over the country.

1997 was an intense year, with the signing of a new record deal with the national label União Lisboa, resulting in the recording of the 2nd album entitled 'Foreshadow', recorded at Square Center Studios in Nottingham, England with Simon Efemey. Mastering was done at the famous Battery Studios in London. The album was released in May of 1998, corresponding to the expectations created around this work and the band. The distribution at international level was provided by the english label Dream Catcher.

The song 'Divinity' gave rise to the first video clip. This video gained prominence in several European music TV channels. The promotion of 'Foreshadow' also included live performances in several famous venues of the country and television appearances.

The band released their 4-song demo 'Escape from Freedom' in 2000, but line-up changes, musical divergences and other problems led to the end of the band shortly after.

The band re-activated in 2008, and released a demo in 2009, titled as 'The Beast Is Rising'. It included 3 songs.

However, in 2011 the band split up again.

In 2016, with the aim of commemorating the 20th anniversary of the album 'Strange Desire' and after corresponding the interest of several labels in its reissue, a special edition by Chaosphere Recordings was released in January 2017 with some live performances. Bearing in mind the public's excellent reaction to the band's return to the stage, its members decide to resume their activity and promote a new series of concerts to promote the reissue of 'Foreshadow' on vinyl.

The writing of new songs started shortly after and the the 3rd album was recorded in January 2020, with the production of Daniel Cardoso.
