Valtari
History
Valtari is a melodic death/melodic black metal entity from the mind of one musician, Marty Warren. Blending a unique mix of Scandinavian and Australian influences to create a powerful, emotion driven sound that can sooth and inspire the listener while remaining brutally fast and heavy.
Valtari is a solo band project based in Lithgow, a small town near Sydney. Influenced by many bands far and wide the sound can be described as melodic death, melodic black and goth metal - or if you are not into the genre game - just plain fast, intense heavy as an anvil metal.
Valtari began as a nameless project in mid 2010. The style that Marty would eventually pursue began to take shape after years of defining what it was that made up the best parts of extreme metal from around the globe. Drawing on influences such as Before The Dawn, Insomnium, Ensiferum, early Dimmu Borgir, Lord Belial, Be'Lakor and early In Flames, 2011 bought serious song writing to a head with the project becoming a tangible entity; Valtari was born.
This culminated in the debut album 'Fragments of a Nightmare' being written, recorded, mixed and mastered by Marty between June 2011 and January 2012 (international physical and digital release on 02/24/2012). This album had much success and allowed Valtari to find a niche inside the already heavily crowded genre. A steady build up of fans developed throughout 2012 and 2013 with the digital age propelling Valtari into the minds and iPods of likeminded music lovers from around the world.
Around September 2013, after a hiatus away from music to dedicate time to his new son, Marty again hit the ground running. 'Hunter's Pride' was written using material from late 2012 through to 2013. A legitimate step up in terms of audio quality and song content, 'Hunter's Pride' was released on January 20th 2014.
