History
Bewitched is founded in 1990 by Doomicus, at that time under the name Bewitchment. Along with Doomicus, he was accompanied by guitarist Arahn Evil (Originally Epic Warrior), with whom he recorded a 1-song rehearsal called 'Nemesis'. There is no record of that recording.
In January 1991, Arahn Evil and Doomicus change the band's name to Bewitched. The two of them, along with the help of another guitarist named Anganamon (originally Iron Warrior), record a demo-rehearsal, also titled 'Nemesis', this time with 3 songs. It was only distributed among friends of the band, never being done in a massive way.
It is in August '91 that Bewitched together with Anganamon and the help of two new members; Walhalla Thunder and Path Sentinel, on drums and bass respectively, rehearse 3 songs to professionally record the first official demo. It was on October 5, 1991 that this demo titled 'In God I Trust (The Medieval Fears)' was recorded, which was made independently that same month of October.
In the end of November of the '91 Bewitched recorded their second demo, 'Nemesis' (7 songs), which came out in February 1992.
Walhalla Thunder and Anganamon leave Bewitched and Snow enters on drums. Arahn Evil would take care of all the guitars for the third demo, 'Doomed', which was recorded in June 1992 and was released in July 1992.
Path Sentinel leaves Bewitched and Cuto enters on lead guitar and Christian on bass. It is December 1992 and Warmaster Records of Colombia (label of the late Mauricio Bullmetal - Typhon) is impressed with the 'Doomed' demo and offers to Bewitched to release the demo on a split vinyl. Bewitched then decides to propose to Bullmetal that they record again, especially for vinyl, as there were 2 new members.
Then in February 1993 he entered the studio to record. Mauricio Bullmetal is sent the master in reel tape format for the vinyl, which makes it clear that this vinyl, at least the Bewitched side, is absolutely analogous. Warmaster Records releases the vinyl around May-June 1993. It is titled 'My Death for You on a Night of Cursed Full Moon / Pronimo' and was limited to 600 copies. The other side of the vinyl contained a not very orthodox recording by the Finns F (a.k.a. Funcunt). Still, the split would attract a lot of attention from various European labels, such as Osmose and Holy Records, the latter offering him a deal for a debut album.
Bewitched, this time with Christian out and J.L. on bass, he enters the studio again to record his debut album. Of these unfinished recordings, a demo called 'Last Breath' is distributed to some European magazines and fans. Holy Records pressures Bewitched to modify his style towards something more like My Dying Bride and requests a new demo, which was never recorded, since Doomicus did not accept pressure of that type towards Bewitched.
In the meantime of 1994, Bewitched remains in permafrost, with the album almost finished, the other members away and a series of dark events. Bullmetal offers to edit the album to Bewitched, but cannot give it an upcoming date due to Warmaster having many commitments in the works.
In 1995 Picoroco Records from Chile offered Doomicus to edit the album on cassette and CD. Doomicus concludes with the album sessions and it is released in November 1995 on cassette, to later be released on CD in February 1996. The album was called 'Hibernum in Perpetuum'.
The album sweeps Europe by storm, and Bewitched again integrates Anganamon, this time on bass, and lead guitarist Mayhem enters. Bewitched tour in central and southern Chile and they are offered a contract for the second album. Bewitched records the new album 'Dragonflight' in December 1996 and the problems begin again.
Picoroco disappears, money is owed to the recording studio and Corvus offers to settle the debt with the studio and edit the album, which is stopped by Picoroco Records himself. It is then that Nazgul Eyrie Productions from Germany paid off the debt (US $ 1,300 at the time - the album was mixed and mastered) to Picoroco Records. He is offered to edit the album on cassette, which happens in 1997. With Nazgul Eyrie Productions, it also starts out with delays and problems, which ultimately caused the matter to be taken over by Supernal Music from the UK. Alex Kurtagic, owner of Supernal Music, designs a new cover for the CD and this is finally made in June 1999, two years after the cassette. Back in 99 Bewitched had another lineup, with Blinder on lead guitar, Aegir on bass, Astralis Domina on keyboards and Warhammer on drums. With Arahn Evil on guitar and Doomicus on vocals of course.
With this lineup, the "Dragon Tour" is carried out in the center and south of the country, and in August of that same year Bewitched enters to record their third album. 'Somewhere Beyond the Mist' is released in a limited edition of 300 copies on cassette during the year 2000.
It is in July 2001 that Supernal Music finally publishes the album on CD, and the band separates, leaving Doomicus for the first time alone with the project.
In 2002, Doomicus together with Moerk Handen (Ymer Land) and Walter Tölg (Hetroertzen / Horns), record the fourth album and part of the fifth. This new album 'Selfconfidence' is released on CD by Picoroco Records in 2003, after a promotional demo.
At this point Bewitched is a studio band, as Doomicus does not wish to socialize with other members on tours etc. It is the year 2004 and Doomicus alone, and with the help of Holocaust (Dharohg) on guitar, ends the sessions of the fifth album, which would be called 'Unveiling Zion' and was released on CD in 2005 by Supernal Music.
That same year, Doomicus performed under Bewitched / Keltic the compilation with rarities (covers, live and re-recordings) of Bewitched, entitled 'Black Funeral (A Satanic Statement of Hate)'.
In 2007 Doomicus remixed and re-recorded some tracks from the second album 'Dragonflight', and this was released in November 2007 under Keltic Records.
It is the year 2009 when Doomicus decides to put Bewitched on hiatus, and for this he records about twenty minutes of music for what would be part of the split CD 'Ajna: The True Fist in the Face of Yavéh', together with the bands Ymer Land (Germany) and Gorjeo Seglar (Chile). The CD is released in May 2009 under Keltic Records.
During 2011, Night Birds Records (Roman Sayenko / Drudkh / Hate Forest) together with Thule Productions from Ukraine released the compilation 'The Lucifer's Stardust' on cassette, which included the Bewitched session for the 2009 split CD 'Ajna' plus some rarities.
That same year, Tyrannus Records reissued the debut album 'Hibernum in Perpetuum' on a double CD, along with all the Bewitched material from 1991-1994.
In 2014, Doomicus together with C. Mortvm (ex-LvxCaelis, ex-Hetroertzen etc.) bring Bewitched back to life, along with the help of Centurio (Necranastasis, Grimoire etc.). Bewitched record the seventh album during the same year. Meanwhile, Mushantufe Productions offers to release a cassette with demos of the new album plus unreleased songs. This cassette is released in November 2014 under the title 'Caravans', and is limited to 100.
On March 9, 2015, Tyrannus Records released Bewitched's new album, 'In Via Increatae Lvx', on digipak, as well as manufacturing Bewitched t-shirts for release.
C. Mortvm and Doomicus decide to record the eighth Bewitched album during the same year 2015. After all the sessions of the album, on January 5, 2016, Doomicus decides to definitively end the band, but leaving as a posthumous legacy a demo entitled 'Nigrum Foramen', which was released in March 2016 by Mushantufe Productions.
The eighth and final album, titled 'Nemesis and the Revelation of Doom', was released in July 2016 by Deculto Prods, again in digipak format.
