Exarsis
History
Exarsis were formed near the end of summer back in 2009 by Chris Poulos (bass) and George Oikonomou (drums) while they were still in high school. The aim was clear: To play old school thrash metal like the bands they grew up with. Soon, Chris Tsitsis (guitars) joined the band and they started playing covers of their favorite bands.
In February of 2010, Panayiotis Tsitsis (guitars) will join the band and after a lot of search for a vocalist Alexis Papatheofanous (vocals) finally joins the band at July.
In September the band records a home made demo ('Demo 2010') with their first two songs and a Whiplash cover. The demo was given free to their live shows. Two of the band's own songs appeared on '3 Ways of Thrashers' released in 2011 via Turkish Coffinfeeder Distro.
By the spring of 2011, Exarsis recorded their debut album 'Under Destruction' with the band's guitarist Chris handling the mixing and mastering. When summer came, Exarsis had their debut album ready and kept on searching for a record label while doing lots of gigs all over Greece (at this time they supported Rotting Christ). One year after their demo, Exarsis uploaded their first promotional track of the album, entitled 'Dying Earth', and played as support act for Sodom in Athens. When no record label answered Exarsis uploaded the album for free download at Christmas of 2011.
2012 came and Exarsis had new material ready. The band was ready to enter GrindHouse Studios on June to record their second album called 'The Brutal State'. Meanwhile labels Athens Thrash Attack and Eat Metal Records officially released the debut album. 'The Brutal State' was produced by Exarsis and George Bokos and mixed/mastered by Vasilis Gouvatsos at GrindHouse studios. Having a rough mix of the album the band decides to make a video clip for 'Toxic Terror' on July of 2012 capturing the live appearance of the band and the devastating mania of the Greek thrashers. The video clip was shot in 7Sins Club by Antonis Skaramangas and people were free to come and mosh the place out. Video was uploaded on Youtube at September as a promotional clip. In October Exarsis oppened for Onslaught in Athens and after that show Chris Tsitsis left the band to join Suicidal Angels.
Soon Exarsis signed with MDD Records to release 'The Brutal State' on March of 2013.
The third Exarsis album, 'The Human Project' was released via MDD Records in May 2015. It was recorded by Chris Tsitsis with Jarrett Pritchard, who also mastered the album. Its cover artwork was created by Andrei Bouzikov.
