History

Death metal collaboration between Jonny Pettersson (Sundsvall, Sweden) and Gareth Nash (Bristol, England).

Ashcloud started under the name Skinbag in 2005. In 2006 Pettersson recorded 'Soul Consumer' EP that never got released and Skinbag was put on ice.

In 2013 Jonny and Gareth started talking about writing old school death metal that draws inspiration from both the old Swedish death metal scene (e.g. Entombed, Carnage, Dismember, Nihilist, and US Autopsy) and the crust movement (Wolfbrigade/Wolfpack, Skitsystem, Discharge, Asta Kask, Anti-Cimex, Moderat Likvidation, Driller Killer, Totalitär, Avskum, Mob 47). After changing their name to Ashcloud they re-mastered the old EP and started recording new material for a full length album. This is where Ashcloud was born and the journey started.

The first release was the 'Soul Consumer' EP under the new name. Both guys played guitar and performed vocals. The bass guitar was played by Pettersson. This is how the band continued with the roles.

'Consumed by Darkness' was the second demo's title, released in 2013. It features 2 songs.

During 2014 they had a strong set of songs worthy to be unleashed on the world. By the end of the year they had finished the album. Ashcloud's debut full-length album 'Abandon all Light' was released on March 10th, 2015, by Spanish label Xtreem Music. Cavernous production was created by Pettersson at legendary Unisound Studio, Sweden.

Next two full-length albums, 'Children of the Chainsaw' (May 1st, 2016) and 'Children of the Chainsaw' (June 20th, 2017) were mostly recorded at Unbound Studios in UK, and released again by Xtreem Music.
