Valkyrja
History
Valkyrja was shaped and formed in 2004 with the intention to use the channel of audio art form as a vessel of violence and deprivation in a manner lost by the majority of the today's covens. The ideal should not be clad in specific garments, hiding behind the works of previous titans or spewing words via different medias where the individual in question is secured from opposition behind photoshoped imagery or screens.
The ideal is a passionate, limitless perversion that nests in the self, which lives as a parasite inside the flesh and removes the teachings that are chains in different prohibitions. Valkyrja use the existence of this parasite which is opposition and defiance to the quintessence of the free will - the primal beast that lies within the neglected corners of the mind, shadowed by the standards norms of today.
No specific genre was ever truly chosen due to the fact that it in itself would bring boundaries with it in form of blueprints and expectations. What is created under the flag of Valkyrja is the pure energies of the members who craft beneath it. With this in mind, the first movements towards a manifestation were enabled. A progression from mind to action, from spirit to flesh, from thought to life.
During March 2005 the first aural offering was crafted, namely 'Funeral Voices' (five songs on CD), that marks the hunger and presence of the quintet - a preview of what was yet to surface in even greater entity. It was limited to 50 copies.
In September 2005, the previous demo was reissue with new songs as 'Far Beyond'. This limited to 200 copies cassette was released via Deathkrush Productions, and includes 4 new songs from the band and a Dissection cover ('Where Dead Angels Lie').
Due to the band's direction, line-up changes appeared necessary and individuals were replaced with the focus on sharpening the spears. The debut album 'The Invocation of Demise', was recorded at Necromorbus Studio in March 2007 and released in physical form in September via Northern Silence Productions (100 x metal case CD, 520 x 12" vinyl and regular CD).
Following the success of the first album, Valkyrja signed a pact with Metal Blade records in 2009.
As the second album was manifested during the summer of the same year, the debut album was reissued via Metal Blade – with the intention to open the eyes to the band's name. A month later the sequel to this opus was brought to life in a complete shape, namely 'Contamination'. The album was released in Europe and US during the first month of 2010, on several CD and vinyl formats (some limited).
Along side this second album, Valkyrja gained a reputation for being a fierce live act, aiming to invoke a will in each spectator to reach for the fire that shatter the bonds which tie them to the pathetic foundations of today – the primal, forgotten frenzy again supreme.
The third album, 'The Antagonist's Fire', was recorded in summer of 2013, and release in November via World Terror Committee on several CD and vinyl formats, again some of them limited.
It took five full years for the band to get their fourth stufio album out. 'Throne Ablaze' was recorded at Necromorbus Studio in 2018 and released in November by World Terror Committee, this time only on CD.
