Swansong
History
Melodic death metal band Swansong was founded in Kuopio, Finland in 2020. Founders of the band, former Up Yours punk band's vocalist Jemiina and Verjnuarmu guitarist Topi Pitkänen, joined forces in 2019 and started to make music together. Soon Topi asked a fast and lazersharp drummer Markus Tikkanen best known from Omniversum to join the group. Band came into it's final form when Mika Tikkanen (guitar) and session member Tomas Ahlroos (vocals / bass) from Omniversum joined the group.

Jemiina started with clean vocals and music evolved around that. All of this changed in December 2020, when Jemiina tried growling for the first time under the influence of Mathias "Vreth" Lillmånsin (mm.Finntroll, ...And Oceans, Dispyt). Scream vocals were love at first roar for Jemiina and the band changed their direction
towards death metal. Swansong was born.
The name was borrowed from one of the group's musical influencers' Carcass 'Swansong' album. Jemiina sent Swansong demos to Mathias and when he promised to produce the music, the group decided to head for studio in July 2021 to record their debut EP.
End of the year 2021 guitarist Mika Tikkanen stepped aside from Swansong due to personal and schedule reasons. Topi asked his experienced guitarist friend Tuomas Leskinen to rehearsals and he became a permanent part of the band from there on. Tuomas is known from such ensembles as Carnal Demise, Tornado and Bad Baron.
Swansong is bringing something new for the Finnish metal scene combining heavy/power/melodeath metal with aggressive female fronted death growl, kick ass riffs, great melodies and clean male vocals.
