Death Yell
History
Death Yell was formed in Santiago in 1987 by Pollo, Pulga and Pato Bala (originally under the name of Pestilence). Some rehearsals later they were joined by Watiu and Galleta to complete the classical line up that started it all.
After a couple of very intense years they had clearly drawn their unique style in the mythical underground scene in Chile. The demo 'Vengeance from Darkness' was recorded, presenting the band just like it was: crude, chaotic and brutal.
For many different - good and bad reasons - they abruptly split up in 1991. Only many years later we learnt their unique demo became a referent and even influential for many brutal death/black metal bands and bangers.
Eventually the demo - together with other live recordings - was remastered and re-edited as double LP by Nuclear War Now! in 2007. It was maybe that demo re-edition which drove Death Yell decide to reunite 20 years after they broke up.
Pollo, Pulga, Galleta and Watiu then came back with the recording of 'Back from the Depths' - released as a 7" split in 2013 under Hells Headbangers Records - showing they had not lost their eerie occult style.
Since then they have been busy playing live to recover the position they deserve in the extreme metal scene, until 2017, when 'Descent into Hell, their first full length after 30 years. was released under Hells Headbangers Records.
