Italian band Furyu perform instrumental metal and rock with a lot of other styles found in their music, too. Even though the album contains short narrations in each of the song, I'd still count it as instrumental. I think the theme of this tale circles around time and what awaits us after our time is over. Even though instrumental music can be used to tell stories, I really didn't get the feeling here, that I must think what those words say. I just wanted to fly with the music.
The music shifts from different styles to others, so how does it hold together? 'Illusione Dei Miei Giorni' starts with heavy prog metal (maybe something like Symphony X), and travels through various, more or less dark, metal parts (also some tech-thrash to be heard) and some funk ones. '..E Poi La Luce' offers more melodic things. After horrible melody work at the beginning (and at the ending) of the song, the band conjure some fantastic ones. Generally the song is a bit more faster than the opener, kind of power metal-ish at times. It's still pretty dark in its vibes, even though it gets a bit cheerier after the middle point. Now, the jazzy influences lift their heads. I really don't like jazz styles, but here they fit in well enough, I think.
'Un Momento: Vado A Fuoco' mixes funk and metal together. The song is intense, as the metal bit gets quite fierce. 'Finalmente Io Sono' changes more brutal metal vibes to fast and cheerier stuff and to epic hard rock. Later Iron Maiden slow songs' atmosphere is what 'La vastità del mio tempo' at first reminds me about. However, the song gets very varying and goes through several musical styles mentioned on tis review, before turning to acoustic ending 'Ciò che l'anima non dice'.
There is nothing to complain about the production, as it is heavy yet clear, as this kind of music requires. Comic style booklet gets a thumb up, too. The band have really seen some effort to make it sound and look good. The music offers many great moments, and should not leave adventure-loving listeners cold. All the music was also done a a band effort. It does feel tight, even though there are so many styles crammed into it. Very much worth trying for all prog metal heads!
