Cock And Ball Torture (CBT in short) have gained a cult status with their gore/porn grind. What will happen now, when the band have more mature lyrical topics? I don't personally much care about giving space to some other topics, especially as the lyrics didn't follow with a promo copy. It is still the music that matters.
Their record label named this as death metal's substyle "bulldozer bondage core". Well, indeed this is bulldozer; not so fast but heavy as a horny war elephant! This trio can really play it heavy. Thick, metal-as-fuck guitar spits forth yummy low riffs constantly. No leads, no solos, just fucking riffing. Rhythm section make their best to nail every single hit with force and manage to do so. This is groovy as hell, one of those records that make you headbang even if you try resisting doing so. Basically, this continues where 'Sadochismo' (2002) left off (judging by three mp3s available on the band's website). One thing that 'Egoleech' lack is a variety in music and this is the biggest problem here. It could get very monotonous and some will find it so for sure, but the forceful performance and monstrous riffs save a lot I think. Also, the pace of the music is similar for a big part. It fluctuates in both sides of mid-paced. This factor could have been more varied, I believe?! But if you seek for heavy stuff, try this immediately and give it time to grow, because it took about 10 spins before I was hooked. I quess this is kind of hypnotizing in its repetitiveness! Whoever recorded this gets my both thumbs up, because this sounds fucking good. In other words: heavy, full and organic.
Vocals are delivered by all three guys. Harsh core-growl, really deep gurgling ones (probably coming from as far as large intestine, maybe even from furher away) and this annoying pig-style voice. Some of course pitchshifted. None of the vocal styles really does not do it to me, except in a negative way (not that most human sound). I just can't take these vocals as a joke either. Well, they perfectly manage keep this as an underground release. Some samples, surprise, is utilized, but they fit in surprisingly well.
Death metal or grindcore? Too groovy to be death, too slow to be grind? Maybe, but this fucker grooves and will surely help you change your neighbours. Well, at least for a week or so. But then it's time for CBT again!
