So here we have the next pre-production demo CD from Poland's Inhumanity, who is Tom Dziekoński. He performs guitars here, and did the drums programming. Last time, on 'Pre-production Demo 2012', we got three songs, and there's six this time around. These two demos have similar cover artwork, but how about music this time around? Is it still so much influenced by Pestilence's jazzy tech-death album 'Spheres' (1993)?
Well, not really. Now we get no (guitar) synthesizer work, which pretty much added the melody last time around. The songs are filled with shredding and churning riffing, but also of higher mathematics (not about 1-2-3-4 stuff) rhythms. The riffing constantly varies between open-stringed and palm-muted stuff. These wiggly pieces fluctuate between blasting and mid-paced tempos. At times, but only here and there, the music reminds of Swedish tech-death band Theory In Practice. Some songs feature discordant Voivod-esque guitar playing. With well-programmed drum machine this does sound mechanical. The closer is different, even though still Voivod style progressive piece. There's a longer guitar solo, some harmonic guitars and sound effects giving it more life than the previous songs.
Above all, this one is for those who like changing rhythmic patterns and do not care about melody. Quite often I feel, that if there was more flesh over endoskeleton, especially as the vocals are absent, and the bass guitar is buried in the mix (which is very trebly). In short, this is rather stripped-down, sound-wise. There are some sound effect also in earlier songs before the closer, but sadly very, very sparingly used.
While this is 21 minutes in length, some of the song hardly differ from each other. There's no enough versatility here. Only for mathematics-loving metal heads, not for those who want melody in their music (except on the last track). String theory death metal?!
