Torchia's second coming is another demo. The debut one 'oNe' was released back in 2013, and it was a messy 3-song piece, which still had some nice parts therein, generally in vein of melodic Gothenburg death metal and Children Of Bodom. The band's line-up is same except for the vocalist.
The title track is a an eventful song, which throws in some thrashing, too. And a jazzy mid-part... Anyway, the song's lead guitar melody remind me of Nocturnal Winds, which takes a listener back in time about some 15 years. Yes, it's both modern and old at the same time. It's still somewhat disorganized, especially the jazzy bit and metalcore stuff that comes after it. There's some really weird drum stuff to be heard, from within which I cannot find any red thread, even though generally the drumming is solid.
'My Land Shall Burn' is more hateful song, with some heavy trampling going on. It much more straight one, when compared to the opener. Some nice guitar licks and solos here! In short: a really catchy song, with good, heavy drive to it. The last song drags those thrash influences in again. I has Arch Enemy kind of action drive to it. Nice dark melodic guitar work between verses is one of the song's highlights.
The guitarists are without doubt nimble-fingered guys, and can put out some tight picking, interesting licks, melodies and soloing. The bass pounds at the back, but is solid as are the drums mostly. The vocals are typical barking growling, and certainly carry power. The production on this demo is good. It's of album-quality, easily.
Two out of the three songs are quite garbled with too many parts that are too different to each other. There are also some rather annoying riffs and lead guitar bits here and there. The band miss character, but it won't be found with quaint compositions, that are leaking like an old skiff. Needs work, the musical output.
