They come from Chihuahua, Mexico. Who they? Vinagron, insane group of six who clearly don't give a fuck what others might think about their noise. I wonder if they give a fuck about what their songs include and how they sound. Vinagron presented their second demo 'Mastigoproctus giganteus', understandably, in mp3 format, at least as far as here to Finland, but still it's always lacking without covers. The band's website is only in Spanish, so I do my best and try to get everything out of this monster.
First of all, I think this is made with a tongue firmly in cheek. Including many ambience tracks with monsters (well, taking a guess here) talking over different sound effects. Music itself is a collage different things; mostly grind, some melodies (melody at the end of 'La Luz...' is borrowed from a famous song, which I now can't remember) and death metal. 'Los dos castillos' is the most normal song on offer, groovy and heavy piece which sounds good. 'Ya no hay...' is a bastard mixture of grind and melodic death metal, the next best thing. '4+2' starts with horror synth and turns into slow-paced piece of death metal. 'Bigotes de sangre' and the title track are pure grindcore. The truth is, there's not much fine music here, because the songs are short and just going from one part to another. Well, some of you may want it like that, but I don't. Vocals are processed for a big part, which isn't a good thing either. There's insane growling with a real voice, too. Sound is good for a demo. Instruments are audible and there's enough of low end here. Playing is good too, for this kind of stuff.
Grinders may want to check this out, especially those who can speak Spanish. I think sense of humour is also required. It's free for download at the band's website so grab it. But the truth to be told, this is one fucking patchy demo. Maybe it's the language, but Brujeria is the name I can, somewhat, relate this to. Cool logo, though.
