The title stand for 'Blood, Drugs, and Death n' Roll'. This is the London-based quartet's debut release. Five rocking songs of unhealthy, dirty and mean stuff. Taking building blocks from a few areas and making it sound English. Not inventing anything, just rocking it out. And do not expect anything David Bowie style thingy here...
It all starts with Swedish-sounding death n' roll, with some more rock-era Entombed-ish riffs. Hammering drums and pounding bass do their thing ably. This isn't about showing off, of course. Raspy and snarling vocals, plus big gang choruses and vocal lines give this a punky vibe (to me, it sounds somwhat like heavier Gallows or something like that). Well, you can hear that in instruments, too, for example mid-paced '667' and hardcorey 'Eye of the Storm' (makes me think of Pro-Pain, actually). Just check out the latter one's Lemmy-influenced bass, and that's not the only Motörhead-style case in that song, let me tell you! 'Death Sti-XXX' contains a shock rock chorus, bringing in more of US whiff. None of the song is a copy of each other, and shows pretty broad area of operation. It doesn't sound like a demo, and actually maybe a tad too clear, to tell the truth.
This is meant to be heard and seen in club live. It certainly works well at home too, with a beer in hand. And in stomach. Then in head. It has such an atmosphere, that one'll empty a six-pack during its 16 minutes of duration. Check out the band's title song and then tell me "they really do not rock". I dare you!!! Because you will get kicked by spiritual combat boots if you contradict. And they formed this fucking year, can you believe it?!!
