This split showcases two sludge metal bands from Poland. The bands aren't on the same line by looking at their discographies: O.D.R.A have six full-length albums out against Parh's zilch. But that does not mean anything at all. I just wanted to start this review with some data. That's what happens when the writer is a virgin, I guess... Hey, I mean, two new bands to me!

O.D.R.A (formed in 2008) are the first to go with their four songs. They operate on the hardcore-side of sludge metal. It is crusty, groovy and heavy for sure, and of course reverbing guitars are in. I'd say Eyehategod must be one main influence of these guys, even though O.D.R.A cannot dive that deep. Bluesy riffing, lazy yet punishing drumming (yeah, it really is not lazy!), buzzing bass and anghuished shriek/scream/shout vocals. Some old school doom metal happens, too; checkout that fantastic string-bending on 'Tron...', 'Torz...', fuck it, their last song is what I mean. It can be heard, that these guys aren't newcomers, but are as wet as a rehearsal room's beery carpet. Songs contain some catchy riffage, and are well varied during the band's 15 minutes here. Noisy yet fathomable and belligerent as heck.

Parh (formed in 2014) is more metal compared to O.D.R.A. They partake with seven tracks, of which the first one's just a short intro (ahh, summer...). Music-wise, generally Parh aren't far from Entombed's more sludgy albums, but aren't as hideous or dirty. Vocals remind of more suffering Martin van Drunen (Asphyx, ex-Pestilence etc.). There is some deeper growls and multiple other variations heard, too. At times the band enter noisy punky sludge gear, reminding listener that this is not death metal. One definite highlight, 'Bobby L.', comes close to more rocking and grooving Cathedral, and its chorus is one fucking catchy piece. The transition from one style to another is fluidy for the band. Again, the sound is powerful and easily comprehensible.

These two bands are suitably different, but still fit nicely together. Might cause headache for poorly prepared, due to its heaviness and general dirtiness, but there actually are tunes here. However, sludgenauts should find something to smoke to here. Nothing groundbreaking, but can break something in you.
