This one (as a debut) just reigns supreme, it's about as good as 'Retribution' (1992) maybe even a bit better! Just laying the foundation here in the early 90's, they pretty much killed it here! The chunky riffs and sick production owns this debut. Not saying that each and every following album is as good, but a lot of them are. Brett Hoffman (RIP) was awesome on vocals. Things without him just aren't the same. Here he simply shows his range in the vocal department. Love his screams! The music augments the rest of the album and the mixing was really good! I think the guitar was significant on here, too.

The tempos changed up, but mainly the guitars were quick riffs that were very catchy! They seemed to hit home on each track. The leads were adequate and the vocals fit the music really well. I think the music and the vocals were the best parts of this album. Everything just fit into place and was uncompromising. It's a definite favorite of mine. It really hits home with everything. They seemed to fit the guitars with the vocals just right and the screaming was self-evident. Just the vocals made the band interesting, to me at least. Without Brett, they're not Malevolent Creation.

I shied away from the lyrical concepts just kept it to the music. That's what makes the most difference to me in an LP. So to recap, Malevolent Creation just scores home on here and is literally amazing. Some of the leads I'll admit were shrieking and sick, though the rhythm guitar were the main highlights in terms of the music. But yeah, to be honest, I haven't heard an album from them that surpasses this one except 'Retribution'. As I stated, that's the only other one in the 90's per their discography that surpasses the debut. 1993's 'Stillborn' didn't cut it and their later releases after it just weren't as good.

Own this album today! If it isn't in your archives already, that is. It's not available on Spotify, but get a physical copy! First try it out, I'll admit that it is slow in the beginning till it really hits you! I would have to say that 'The Ten Commandments' will remain to be one of my favorite Malevolent Creation releases ever because of its' innovation, originality, uncompromising and noteworthiness. They tear up your speakers on here. So get prepared for a brutal annihilation upon hearing this! They will take charge on this one here! It's amazing!
