This mini-CD is essential for Mindrot fans. Firstly, the band's discography is small and secondly, 'Dreaded Light' is another great song from these five guys, who mixed doom metal and death metal into quite unique music.

'Dreaded Light', confessions of a man whose life has solidified into same daily routines and has no courage or will to search for changes, is topically too close to my own life. The song itself is one of the faster songs from Mindrot. Downtuned guitars, low growled tortured vocals and fantastic emotional lead guitars soon explode into death metal maelstorm before slowing down into a gloomy ending. Incredibly groovy shit, let me tell you, even though doomy as fuck! Not groovy the Cathedral way, but simply powerfully rhythmic, primitive.

It's sad, that 'Forlorn' and 'Withersoul' are same as on the album 'Dawning' (1995). Reason why the title track is shorter, is that there's no rain and thunder sounds at the end of the song. Read 'Dawning' review for a deeper insight about sound. Please notice, that score was given while keeping 'Dawning' in mind! Only one new song...
