This Dutch four-piece band are forging heavy metal in which 1980s and modern touch are alloyed together. They released their debut full-length album, 'We Will Battle', in 2018. They won "Dutch Metal Battle" in 2019. Since then they've been recording their sophomore platter, and 'Unslain' is the first single released off of the forthcoming album.
The new song is way more modern-sounding as a few songs off of the debut album I've heard. This still has 1980s style riffage going on at times, but also more thrashing main riff and sharp licks. The drumming is pounding, as is the bass guitar. The song is on faster side, with headbangable pace. The vocals are mostly clean and melodic, and far better than on the debut album; they have similar tone to Disturbed's (but without those "uh-hu-hu-hu's", thankfully).
British band Dethonator was doing something like this already in 2013, so this isn't the cutting-edge of modern metal, no. The song is fairly catchy, and definitely meaty. The band could have some character into them, too, but that will be truly revealed when the sophomore album is released (this one was released over a year ago already...).
