This "label" version is about a half of 'Adrift...', Prometheus's first demo. This features under ten minutes of music, but still manages to be convincing enough.

Dark, melancholic and melodic light weight metal is Prometheus's branch. The music is a mixture of quite heavy riffing, driving beats and classical synths and piano. It is all okay and definitely not "hit", so the direction is right. The songs could be more happening, though. The piano works well, but the synths are a tad "normal", too familiar from somewhere else and definitely not "scifi". The riffing is partly very fast shredding, partly slower and heavier and leads are nice, but there is no guitar solos. Drums also go from rocking beat to faster beats, which sounds a bit out of place on other calmer 'Mothership'. Bass playing is great, reminding of Steve Harris at times and sometimes like on any Testament record! Generally, still metal, if not brutal or aggressive. Sound is well balanced and instruments can be easily picked. However, soundscape is way too small for this kind of music and therefore this souns a bit blunt.

I am hooked by Sharon Lind's absolutely fantastic vocals. She sings in mid-register and much more powerful, that one might think while looking at her picture (she's quite thin and short). She has many personal touches in her voice and pronunciation and she is an absolute highlight here (no offence, guys)! I have to say this, even though it doesn't make Sharon a bit worse: she sounds sometimes like a twin sister of Anneke van Giersbergen of The Gathering. There is some clean lower male vocals as a spice and while they are okay, they are so pale when compared to gifted Sharon. This is a rare occasion as I am totally mesmerized by a female vocalist (no, I'm not usually mesmerized by guys either, he!). Lyrics are based on science fiction, but sources aren't familiar to me.

These two song sound very interesting, to tell you the truth, I haven't heard nothnig interesting in this field of metal for a long, long time. Though I didn't like this kind of metal anymore, but I was wrong. Quality of these is better than on many albums of similar style, that are getting released nowadays. Wouldn't sound alien on Dark Symphonies' roster, methinks! I think it is time to order the whole demo now...
