How many would bet that Genital Putrefaction played goregrind. I mean, just read their name out loud. However, the cover art is a perfect indication for the thematics here: As soon as we born, we're dying. There are some symbols, and one is the Leviathan cross, so there could be Satanic outlook in lyrics, but when translated, they seem to be about pondering about this life and universe.
Genital Putrefaction started already in late 1980's and recorded three demo tapes in early 1990's, just to call it a day in 1993. They returned close to two decades later. In 2012, this, the band's debut full-length album, was unleash upon mankind. But somewhere in time they decided to split up again... But I have to thank them for putting the album out, because it fucking maims! Get ready for true archaic death metal ritual, "created by the gods" (as the title translates).
So, GP didn't present anything new or unique under the burning sun with 'Stworzony przez bogów'. Instead they quite possible utilized Boss Heavy Metal HM-2 pedal, because the guitar tone is fucking buzzsawy. This is not straight Stockholm sound aping, though, but the spirit of pioneering Swedish death metal bands such as Grave and Carnage can be sensed without any hardship. The militaristic precision, that tank-like roll, reminds of English veterans Bolt Thrower (most audible on 'Wyznanie'). Huge power chords, fast riffing or tremolo stuff is what the guitars are mostly about, even though there's some tasty riffing patterns that create a bit of melodiousness, but it never gets technical; it's bruising. The drums sound somewhat machine-like, probably triggered (at least the kicks), but there's blast beat, double bass drum advancement and some slower bits when needed. The bass guitar is delightfully audible in the mix, being the heaviest bit here together with the guitars. The vocals are upper throat growl, yet low at that.
The album is not one-dimensional, and not about all similar stylings. The songs may be simplistic, sometimes possessing a couple if different parts, sometimes a bit more, but there is good variety between. Eerie bits on like 'Smierc' Ã la Loudblast or Pestilence is a cool detail, bringing in some ominous atmosphere. Then there's more black metal tinted 'Rozkoszne zlo'. 'Sabbath' has witch-voices and doomy keyboard work as its intro. 'Nie-wiara' dares to shift to groovier gear among its violence. The album ends with 'Deformacja ducha', which includes some horror movie style keyboard work; very much in vein of "Phantasm", and we all know who repurposed that!
Everything is performed with energy; the band definitely doesn't sound like they were closing 25 years of age. 'Stworzony przez bogów' is a fine testament for this late band together with demo compilation 'The Unholy Decade' (2013). Polish death metal that doesn't sound so much Polish.
