Overdose are an old band. They had a split album with Sepultura years ago, from which they are probably known to metallers. 'Progress of Decadence' is, however, the first release I get to hear from this band.

'Progress...' is surprisingly good sounding and well played stuff. Overdose mix Samba and Latin rhythms with their thrashy metal. So the music has a good drive. And songs have great riffs! First five songs really makes me band my head. Some songs on the later half of the album are somewhat repeating the earlier songs. However, I haven't heard anything like this before, so points to Overdose. 'Progress...' is fresh enough to stay in my records collection.

Hardcore-style vocalist has quite a droning style and his voice isn't very aggressive. But still it somehow fits well into the Overdose's sound. It's real. These five Brazilians have a lot to say with their angry lyrics about their country. Overdose are something quite different compared to Sepultura. Their original sound and songs are welcomed to my cold native country Finland. Let's do samba and mosh!
