It's not only the title of this demo, but it was Voivod that Ten Rail Cell reminded me of at first. It's that sharp guitar playing and as you should know, Voivod has a song called 'Nanoman'. However, this also sounds a bit like Fugazi or some alternative rock and a dose of punk thrown in, and some heavier riffs give this a post-thrash feel. This Greek band don't build on melodies, but create a disturbed and oppressive atmosphere of bleak dystopic vision of machine-filled world of near future. Groovy drumming and heavy bass propel the songs nicely. One thing is apparent; the songs won't stick to my brain. It's more like flow that I just follow.
Productionwise, this lacks of punch and is somewhat messy. Especially grunted vocals suffer from this. It feels like the vocalist shouts from other side of a room. But it has a certain live vibe. Lyrics are about everyday life. Iraqi war, consumer society and such topics.
All in all, this could be a goodie for those metal maniacs, who also like alternative noise rock and punk. So check out those 3 songs available on the band's website.
