Spanish goremongers Machetazo put out so much releases, that it's the fact, that they run out of new songs. However, 'The Maggot Sessions' is a live recording, so no need for any new songs. Okay, there's some cover songs here which aren't available anywhere else, but no new own compositions.
This trio makes a hell of a lot noise! After the Iron Maiden tribute (intro 'Ides of March'), the raw and rotten death metallic grinding begins. 'Trono de Huesos' is a fast skullsmasher with groovy parts and 'Púdrete como un Cerdo / Bolsas con Sangre', 'Ataque Simio' and 'Maruta' accelerate into even more hectic speeds. The band like it fast, but the slower parts are a common element in the songs. Well, in most of them anyways... Originally, the EP ends with the second Iron Maiden tribute, 'Murders in the Rue Morgue', but Venom's 'Black Metal' is featured only on the CD version, which is limited to 1000 pieces. 'Black Metal' is a fine, raw 'n' dirty version of the classic song. Soundwise this is raw as fuck, but the instuments and the vocals are all audible. The vocals are varying, from the screaming to the low growls and the vomiting noises. The performance is tight and really energetic.
This is a nice fucking EP, if a tad short. Anyways, a must for the goregrind fans. The cool cover art is also a bit familiar, eh?!
